Recommended: Chemicals added to public water supplies, like chlorine, can be harmful to the living cells of plants. At least a 5 micron sediment cartridge, carbon block or GAC cartridges, and KDF cartridges are recommended, as they will remove any pollutants, heavy metals (KDF), chlorine and chloramines in the water that may harm your plants.
Not Recommended: Reverse osmosis filtration is not recommended because it can create an acidic imbalance in water and remove minerals plants may need. Softened water is detrimental to plants over times because of the sodium used during the softening process.
All sediment water filters come in a range of sizes and microns to suit your needs. Sediment filters are used to remove dirt, sand and rust commonly found in water that travels through aging pipes.
GAC cartridges allows water to flow from one end through the length of the carbon media inside before flowing out the other end, maximizing the water's contact with the media. These remove chlorine, taste and odor reduction, and can be effective and removing chemical contaminants.
Replacement cartridges for reverse osmosis (RO) and undersink systems. Carbon block cartridges remove chlorine, taste and odor reduction, and certain cartridges also remove lead from your drinking water.
KDF is bacteriostatic to inhibit bacterial growth inside the cartridges and removes chlorine and heavy metals (such as lead or cadmium) from water.
Under sink water filters remove contaminants from water like a reverse osmosis (RO) systems but leave in minerals like calcium and fluoride.
These systems are ideal for smaller homes seeking to remove chlorine from all faucets, showers and utilities in the home.
If you only want a single filter cartridge you will need a filter housing(s) to hold the cartridge(s). The best choice is the 150558 (pictured to the right), featuring a clear body so you'll know when you need to change you cartridge and a pressure release button.
