Installation Instructions
Model #: RUS-200
1. Clear space under sink and decide where to locate filter.
2. Using a marker and the filter bracket, make a mark on the side of the cabinet to use as a template for the location of the screws to mount the filter housings.
3. First shut off water and release pressure. Connect the EZ faucet adapter by removing the riser tube from the bottom of your sink faucet.
The EZ faucet adapter threads right on the bottom of the faucet (remember to use to rubber washer). Then thread your riser tube on to the EZ faucet adapter.
4. Use a center punch to make a small indention in the sink. For stainless steel sinks use a standard metal cutting drill bit to drill a hole through the sink. Start with a small drill and then switch to a larger one to increase the size of the hole in the sink. Continue this process until the hole is large enough to accommodate the faucet stem (1/2" hole). For porcelain sinks you need a masonry bit. Use the masonry bit to drill through the porcelain surface. Under the porcelain is usually some type of metal. Use the metal cutting drill bits to drill through the metal once the porcelain surface is gone.
5. Remove the parts package from the faucet box. Slide the beveled ring over the faucet stem first. Then slide the thicker rubber washer followed by the large flat washer and finally the largest rubber washer.
6. Place the faucet stem into the hole in the sink.
7. Have someone hold the faucet in the desired direction from the top of the sink. From below, use the locking washer and nut to secure the faucet in place by tightening with a wrench.
8. Connect tubing from the EZ faucet adapter to the "inlet" side of filter housings. The EZ faucet adapter and the filter housings use John Guest super speed fittings. These fittings connect & disconnect without tools and never leak. Simply take the end of the tubing (copper or plastic) and push it into the fitting until it bottoms out. The tubing must be cut straight without any frayed ends. To disconnect, pinch the collet (the part that moves) down from both sides. The tubing can be easily pulled out. A brochure on the fittings is enclosed for reference.
9. Use the same process to connect the "outlet" side of the filter housings to the faucet which uses a supplied compression fitting. A compression fitting uses a nut with a hole in it. Slide this nut over the tubing. Then slide a compression ring over the tubing (small size first). Push the white stiffener into the end of the tubing to keep it from crushing. Insert the tubing into the faucet stem. Slide the compression ring and nut up to the faucet and hand tighten. Use a wrench to tighten about 1 more turn. Hint: Have someone hold the faucet while you do this.
10. Flip faucet lever up to hold it in the open position.
11. Open the valve and let water run through the filter and exit through the faucet. Let water run through the unit for 10 minutes to activate the cartridges.
12. Close the faucet lever and check all fittings for leaks.
