Organic Contaminants Removed by Carbon Filtration
Whole House Filters
Chlorine, Bad Taste, Odor, as well as dirt, rust & sediment down to 5 microns in size. Some removal of chemical contaminants is possible at low flow rates.
Larger carbon beds (larger filters) provide better filtration of chemical contaminants such as VOC's & THM's than smaller beds. However, even a large carbon may only be effective for this type of removal at low flow rates.
Small carbon filters are intended primarily for Chlorine, Taste, Odor & Sediment removal. Larger filters have more Granular Activated Carbon filtration media and are more effective for removal of VOC's & THM's, but only at low flow rates of 1-2 GPM.
H2O can not make any specific claims regarding the chemical contaminant removal ability of a whole house system. Variables involved such the level of a contaminant(s), flow rate, water temperature, service life of the media bed and other factors make it impossible for us to guarantee performance of VOC & THM removal.
